The Cask of Amontillado

There was irony defined in the story, which was verbal irony that involves saying one thing but meaning total opposite thing. And it was when a person caught in a violent rainstorm and saying, "Glorious weather for a stroll!" However we know that he did say that on purpose about the climate condition. Also the story was set in the early evening in Italian city during a carnival, and the narration(point of view) is using first-person.
Adding onto the part, there is themes in the story and it's revenge in a way Fortunato had been against with offenses and insult to Montresor.

the Lady or the Tiger

I think the tiger came out because princess wouldn't let him to marry another woman, and if that happens then she would rather kill him than lose him. Also the quote from the text saying "How in her grievous reveries had she gnashed her teeth, and torn her hair, when she saw his start of rapturous delight as he opened the door of the lady!", which shows princess didn't want him to live happy with anyone else.

I think the major literacy device that was used was conflicts throughout the story, and there are 3 major event that I think it relates to as a conflict within main 2characters, and 1st conflict was that when King's Daughter and the Comner was found in front of her father. Second is when the princess knew all about what will be behind from each door, and sent signal with her eyes to him that which door he should choose to open. And for the last, when he was in situation of either being eaten by tiger or be married to other woman again. And from all these conflicts, you can understand how the literacy devices can reveal the story out more.
